Discipleship

Make Disciples of All Nations

About the Discipleship Ministry at Heritage

“And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’”  Matthew 28:18-20

DISCIPLESHIP STATEMENT
The HCF Discipleship Ministry is our attempt to recover the ministry of discipleship within the church and to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord. Discipleship is not a program in the church, but a fundamental part of every Christian’s life. Discipleship is the way that Christians grow, learn, and live, as modeled by Jesus and the Twelve. Every Christian should be discipled as a new believer and every believer should grow into a disciplemaker. Heritage Christian Fellowship is committed to seeing this happen, as we learn to follow the way of our Master, with the great goal of learning to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

OVERVIEW
There are three main components that make up the Discipleship Ministry at Heritage Christian Fellowship. They are…
• Discipleship Training
• Discipleship Coordination
• Discipleship Resources

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING
There are four levels in the Heritage Christian Fellowship Discipleship Training Course. Levels One and Two focus on training and teaching the believer. Levels Three and Four focus on training and teaching the mature believer how to make disciples. Each level is 13 weeks long and is offered at various times.  Levels One and Two are taught once each year - Level One in the Fall and Level Two in the spring.

Level One—Foundations
In this level, students complete the "Christian Foundations" material. In Part One, students learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ, that is, what it means to be a Christian. In Part Two, students learn what the Gospel is. We long to have students involved and learning, that they might know what it means for them personally to be a Christian and what they are to believe in, according to the Gospel.

Level Two—Fundamentals of the Faith
In this level, students go through the "Fundamentals of the Faith." By completing this workbook, students will cover the basics of Christianity, as they overview and outline what Christians believe and how they are to live. We desire that students be firmly grounded in the fundamental doctrines of the faith.

Level Three—Basic Disciplemaking
In this level, students learn about the nature of Discipleship, purpose of Discipleship, and mandate for Discipleship. Students focus on how to make disciples using a biblical process of disciplemaking. Students completing this level will understand why we make disciples and what properly motivates disciplemaking.

Level Four—The Disciplemaker
In this level, students get in-depth practical training for making disciples. Part One focuses on what to teach disciples. Part Two focuses on counseling your disciple according to God’s Word. Part Three addresses some common problems disciplemakers often face. And Part Four covers issues associated with finishing the disciplemaking process with someone.

DISCIPLESHIP COORDINATION
Another part of the Discipleship Ministry at Heritage is discipleship coordination. We actively seek to coordinate trained disciplemakers with those who need to be discipled. Disciplemakers usually meet with their disciples one-on-one to promote growth, fellowship, and exhortation. They normally meet on a weekly basis for Bible study, prayer, and accountability. If you are interested in being discipled, please contact the church office.

DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCE
Here at Heritage, we desire to provide the believers and disciplemakers with resources that will promote Christian growth and encourage them in their disciplemaking effort. Resources are available to the entire congregation in the church resource room or through the church office. Though donations are accepted, the materials are free to all. Resources include: Bibles, tracts, books, etc.
