In Progress….
Why we sing what we do.
Praising God through song is a mark of God’s people. We are not just called to praise God, we are commanded to do so! We see throughout Scripture the overwhelming worthiness of God to be worshiped, and are humbled by the amazing examples we see through Psalms, and challenged by the call to worship God for all eternity in Revelation.
Singing the Gospel
So when we gather as a church family to bring Him the worship He deserves through song, we want to cover the full range of topics and emotions that we see throughout Scripture. Since the Bible story is that of redemption through Christ, we use the Gospel as our framework. Therefore, when we gather together, we aim to cover the 4 basic elements of the gospel with our songs, and add other supporting song types as well.
1. Glory of God
2. Gravity of Sin
Suffering/Lament
3. Grander of Grace
Abiding with Christ
4. Response
Song Types
In addition to the topics of our songs, we also consider the type of songs we sing.
- Exaltation
- Adoration
- Supplication
- Exortation
Revealing God
Though His Word, God, reveals Himself as both transcendent (high above us) and immanent (close to us). We aim to reflect both of these when we gather to worship Him.
Music Resources
We are incredibly blessed to live in a time where we can have such access to doctrinally sound Christ-glorifying music. These are some of the resources for songs we sing together.
